EPL End of the Year Report Card 2017/2018: Everton

Top Scorer:

  • Wayne Rooney: 10 Goals

Top Assists:

  • Dominic Calvet-Lewin: 6 Assists

Key Player:

Wayne Rooney’s return to his boyhood club at Everton was anything but spectacular, but the striker netted 11 goals and 2 assists in 35 appearances in all comps.  Even though his performance isn’t what we’ve come to expect from Rooney, no one can doubt how great it was to finally see him in an Everton kit.

2017/2018 Season Performance:

Everton had a typical Everton season, finishing 8th in the Premier league with a record of 13-10-15, and earning 0 trophies this year.  Everton began the year with manager Ronald Koeman, he was sacked on October 23rd. Koeman was not beloved by fans and they did not like his realistic approach to the team.  Koeman was replaced by Sam Allardyce on November 30th and led the team to their 8th place finish in the tables.  After spending over 130,000,000 pounds int he transfer window and signing names like Rooney, Keane, Pickfod, Walcott, and Sigurosson, the expectations were high for this team to at least make a run for a domestic cup.  Allardyce was sacked immediately after the season ended and has now been replaced with upcoming protege Marco Silva.  All eyes will be on Everton next season while they hope to end their 23 year trophy drought.

Grade: C-

Everton is that classic C student. They have small ups and downs every year, but always end up being mediocre.
